Royal Society journal archive made free for access - quite right too

Remember this, about the nerd vagabonds obtaining academic papers for public dissemination?

The Royal Society have done the right thing and opened up their older papers archive:

    Good! Bravo! Hooray!

Yay! No longer will I have to physically go to the library, find the right group of computers, remember my user name, and my password, in order to read early 19C weather reports.

On the other hand that much more opportunity for distraction.

OK, it is a start, but why only allow up to 70 years ago? Is there really such a huge demand for research done 10-70 years ago? I am sure that if they made everything older than 1 year old freely available online they could earn more from advertising revenues than they currently make from providing access. Maybe.
