This reminds me of my favorite set of academic acknowledgements:
"Like most philosophers, I am much indebted to conversations I have had with others over the years: in particular, I should like to express my gratitude to Elizabeth Anscombe, Peter Geach and Donald Davidson. I will not indulge in the convention fatuity of remarking that they are not responsible for the errors this book may contain. Obviously, only I can be held responsible for these: but, if I could recognize the errors, I should have removed them, and, since I cannot, I am not in a position to know whether any of them can be traced back to the opinions of those who have influenced me." (Michael Dummett, Frege: philosophy of language p. xii)

    Very good.

While I don't deny the fascination and rigour which drive this inquiry, the practical application of such knowledge appears to be close to that of counting angels dancing on a pin head.
